In honour of the 30th anniversary of The Sundays’ Reading, Writing and Arithmetic album, singer-songwriter Amelia Ray releases a dream pop ballad version of “Here’s Where the Story Ends,” gently lamenting a love gone bad. Ray sings lines such as “But the only thing I ever really wanted to say was wrong” with the the broken-hearted desperation of someone who has realised a relationship’s futility.
The video was filmed in one, continuous shot, take. Ray spent two days in Antwerp under the tutelage of Laura Laura Productions learning to draw, and showed great improvement in rendering both The Eiffel Tower and facial profiles recognisable. Time proved to be her enemy, though, and as the task of drawing at the speed of the song took precedence over technique, her style quickly morphed from Cuyp to Picasso.
